At the Daily Kent Stater, I also did illustration along with layout design. Here I have an example of a special section front I made for the sports section. The sports editor came to me with the idea to make a portrait of Geno Ford, Kent State's men's basketball coach at the time, and make it in the style of Shepard Fariey's Obama posters. They wanted to portray how much "hope" they had for the new season. Staff photographer Daniel Doherty took photos that provided the basis for this illustration.
